Thank you for visiting the Sovah Health - Danville School of Health Professions Radiologic Technology Program web page! The Sovah Health - Danville program is a full-time, two-year, hospital based, Associate of Applied Science Degree program that is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and is certified to operate as an institution of higher learning by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
The curriculum includes general education courses which must be completed at an institution of higher learning in order to meet degree requirements. The institution must meet the accreditation requirements for general academic courses set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Virginia and North Carolina Community Colleges as well many technical schools do meet these requirements. For this area the major accreditors are:

Below are the college level general education courses required for the completion of our program, however, these courses are not required to be completed in order to apply! Also, if it isn’t on this list, we don’t require it.

*Post Radiologic Technology programs such as Sonography, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology require a higher level college math course. Therefore, we recommend that you consider MTH 157 (Statistics) or MTH 163 (Pre-Calculus). Completing these courses will also result in a higher application score due to the fact that the courses are more difficult and will meet the requirement of these other programs, should you choose to pursue that field.

All graduates MUST now have either, an Associate of Science (AS), Associate of Applied Science (AAS), or Associate of Arts and Science (AA&S) in order to meet the degree requirements of the ARRT. Graduates of our program will have met all of these requirements and will earn an AAS degree!
About the Program
The Radiologic Technology Program opened in February 2003 due to an increased demand for Radiologic Technologists. Our program is a full-time, two-year, hospital based, Associate Degree program that is accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) and the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and is certified to operate as an institution of higher learning by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). Transferability of course work from the Sovah program, as with most other programs, is dependent upon the program to which you are considering your transfer. For specific transfer information, please contact the institution to which you are considering transfer.
Radiologic Technology is an exciting health care field with a wide variety of challenging and rewarding career options. Admission to our program is very competitive, and enrollment is limited, therefore admission to our program is NOT guaranteed. Our students are evaluated on both academic and non-academic predictors of success, and the most qualified applicants will be scheduled for a personal interview with various program representatives. Scores from the application process as well as the interview will be used in the selection of our class. All information is kept strictly confidential and selections will be made in accordance with nondiscriminatory policies.
Those who are accepted will be required to complete and pass a physical examination and a drug screening. Fee schedules may be found on our web site under “Tuition & Fees”.
Our Radiologic Technology Program focuses on clinical and didactic instruction in radiologic technology. 1st year students (Juniors) will attend classes on M-W-F and clinical rotations on T-Th. 2nd year students (Seniors) will be in clinical on M-W-F and in class on T-Th. Classes and Clinical rotations are typically scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. However, the will be some instances where students will be required to work on the weekend and evening shifts. Here are our current evening and weekend requirements;
Our Radiologic Technology Program will prepare you for a career in a rapidly growing field as a radiologic technologist. Our program utilizes various clinical facilities for its clinical experiences. Students will be scheduled on a rotating basis to each facility. These facilities currently include;
