COVID-19 Update from Sovah Health - December 23, 2020

December 23, 2020

Sovah Health has established a regular update to share information with the public related to COVID-19 including the status of hospital operations and the safety measures being taken to protect our patients, staff and community. These updates will be delivered every two weeks by various clinical and physician leaders and will be available on the hospitals’ social media channels and website.

As of December 23, 2020: Currently, Sovah Health has 58 patients across both campuses, with 28 located in Martinsville and 30 in Danville, who have tested positive and are being treated for COVID-19 in our hospitals. This amount is an increase since our last update was provided on December 9, 2020. Over the last two weeks, hospitalized COVID-19 patients in our hospitals have hit a record high. We urge our community to continue to follow the guidelines by masking, practicing social distancing, and frequent hand hygiene. At this time, our hospitals have adequate capacity to meet patient needs, including in critical care and intensive care.

This week, Rebekah Fine, PA, Hospitalist, shares what Sovah Health is doing to keep patients and staff safe as well as ways to stay safe over the holidays. The safest way to celebrate is at home with people you live with or by hosting virtual celebrations with friends and family. Attached are two handouts provided by the CDC on ways to stay safe over the winter holidays.

Sovah Health continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking, and maintaining a limited visitor protocol.

Sovah Health reminds the public to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene, and wearing a mask or face covering while in public.
