Sandra Wilson, RN of Sovah Health – Danville was honored recently with The DAISY Award® For Extraordinary Nurses, an international recognition program that celebrates nurses who provide exceptional clinical skill and compassionate care to patients and families.
Wilson earned the recognition after receiving multiple nominations from patients and their loved ones, each describing the lasting impact her kindness, encouragement and compassionate care had during their rehabilitation journey.
One patient shared that Wilson’s support extended far beyond bedside care, describing her as “the best nurse” they had ever experienced. The patient credited Wilson with encouraging them to work toward their rehabilitation goals while making their hospital stay comfortable and uplifting. They wrote that Wilson genuinely care for every patient and gives each person her full attention, adding that they wished every nurse showed the same level of compassion.
Another patient praised Wilson for her kindness during a month-long hospitalization, writing that she consistently treated them with respect and compassion. Family members also recognized Wilson for the care she provided to their loved ones, noting her friendly demeanor, willingness to answer questions and ability to ease concerns during difficult moments.
Across the nominations, Wilson was repeatedly recognized for creating appositive environment where patients felt heard, supported and motivated throughout their recovery. Whether encouraging patients to celebrate milestones, offering reassurance to families or simply taking the time to listen, Wilson’s commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care left a lasting impression on those she served.
