Exceptional Care, Extraordinary Outcomes.

October 06, 2026

Mike Wimmer was playing golf with friends at Beavers Hill Golf Course on July 14 when he began experiencing chest pain. It was a hot morning, and at first, he thought it was indigestion from breakfast. When the pain didn't go away, he called 911.

Henry County EMS arrived and brought him to Sovah Health – Martinsville, where an EKG confirmed he was having his second heart attack. He was taken to the cath lab immediately and treated by Dr. Bhogal.

"The team explained everything that was going to happen," he said. "It was the fastest, record-breaking cath time with Dr. Bhogal at Sovah Martinsville. I was back in my room by 1:30 p.m., and I don't think I could've gotten better care anywhere else. The nurses and care teams were wonderful while I was there."

Mr. Wimmer later went through five months of cardiac rehab at Sovah Health – Martinsville after this second heart attack. He described it as a wonderful program and said he felt watched after, especially during his second time going through rehab.

Today, he's back to playing golf, is a drummer, enjoys fishing and staying active with work.

At Sovah Health, we're grateful Mr. Wimmer received the expert, timely care he needed when every minute mattered. Seeing him back on the golf course, enjoying the activities he loves, and living life to the fullest is exactly why our physicians, nurses and care teams are committed to providing exceptional heart care close to home.
